Mr. Kiyotaka ANDO

Chairman, Advisory Committee

Nissin Foods Hong Kong Charity Fund

Nissin Foods (Hong Kong) Charity Fund was established in 2020 at the onset of Covid-19, one of the most significant health threats in recent history.

Due to the pandemic, consumers re-discovered the value of instant noodles as an essential food item, for it is safe and easy to prepare, can be kept for a long time, is affordable to all, and come in a variety of flavours. The panic-buy across the globe underscored the corporate social responsibility of Nissin Foods to “Create foods to serve society” #.

Against this backdrop, we set up the Charity Fund with the core value that “Eating and sports are the two axles of health” #.

The first batch of programmes focuses on providing scholarships for students studying food and nutritional sciences as well as supporting elite athletes who aspire to become teachers. These are full scholarships (subject to annual review on their study progress) that support the undergraduate and postgraduate awardees throughout their programme of studies, so that they can focus on their academic and athletic performances and no need to worry about their financial burdens. They will become part of the Nissin team to cultivate a healthy lifestyle through food and sports in the community.

As the world’s leading and Hong Kong’s largest instant noodle manufacturer, we aim to contribute to Hong Kong by nurturing future food scientists and health educators.

As we continue to develop the Charity Fund, we intend to engage more stakeholders as our partners, including the government, academia, community, and internal employees, to cultivate a food culture that provides people with healthy and joyful inspiration.

# Note:
